How RobustAire large cabinet systems work
RobustAire large cabinet systems run three or four Kasco KM-120 compressors (1/2 HP each) in a large AireGuard cabinet on shore, feeding 7 to 12 diffusers on the lake bottom. Weighted tubing is sold separately and sized to your layout.
The rising bubbles lift bottom water to the surface, so the system circulates the lake and carries oxygen rich surface water down to the deeper water. Standard diffused aeration works in water 6 feet deep or more and is most efficient at 8 feet or deeper.
A healthier lake bottom in summer, safer fish in winter
In summer, oxygen at the bottom reduces nutrient release from the sediment and helps the lake’s natural bacteria break down muck, since they need oxygen at the bottom.
In winter, aeration keeps an area of ice open above the diffusers so gases can escape, which lowers the risk of winter fish kills.
